This quote has stayed with me ever since Michelle Obama so famously and eloquently delivered it. Today I am grateful for the reminder from our former First Lady.
I find it comforting especially during a time where there are some forces around me going low. This quote reminds me that I am not alone – that there will periodically be obstacles going low in life, but staying high and rising above it with your dignity and character in tact is always the right decision. It’s a reminder that those who matter in life, those who know, love, and respect you see you and that the low forces won’t win and won’t succeed in permanently tarnishing anything.
Remaining strong and taking the high road will always lead to success. Remembering that when one goes low it’s really only a reflection of themselves and their insecurities and not a true characterization of you. This knowledge is key to weathering the negativity and rising from it stronger than ever.
I will continue to remain high. I will continue to stay true to myself and my truth. I will continue to forge on a path of self love, self care, and self awakening. Such endeavors are not selfish or wrong and anyone who tries to say otherwise is doing so in an effort to serve themselves in a selfish way.
Remember, when they go low, you go high.
